Rex...A Tradition of Excellence

In
1921, A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE IN SECURITY BEGAN AT THE
FIRST SHOPPING CENTER DESIGNED AROUND THE AUTOMOBILE:
Country Club Plaza In The Heart Of Kansas City, Missouri.
It began with a single security officer and his partner "Rex".
Today Chesley Brown International continues that tradition
at "The Plaza", utilizing proven security management
systems and innovative technology. And, although our methods
are cutting edge, the attention to detail and customer service
that have always been our philosophy is still there today.
We think "Rex" would be proud…
In
May 2001, the tradition of a security officer with a canine
partner on the Plaza was again a reality with the arrival
of Rex II. He was trained to search for lost children and
to promote goodwill. He quickly became a celebrity as he
was invited to all the parties, grand openings, and special
events. He brought the tenants and security team closer.
Rex II calmed screaming kids being dragged along with Mom
for a day of shopping and he carried trading cards, maps,
and a first aid kit when he is out on patrol. Rex II retired
on December 7, 2006.

The tradition continued when new canine arrival, Chess,
accepted his "duties" from Rex II. Born August
2006, Chess became part of the Plaza's security team
in October 2006. He and his handler Security Supervisor and
Assistant Director of Security Lisa Offield now
carry on the tradition Rex began as the first canine "officer" at
the Plaza.
